DreamLeague S29 Preview: Groups Final Day
Most of the tournament data comes from Liquipedia. Teams’ data comes from opendota.com
DreamLeague S29
Today is the last day of the groups, and so I thought it would be interesting to show where the teams are in DL S29 and for EWC. I would like to point out that the EPT points rewards I posted in the prologue were inaccurate. The official EPT Rulebook PDF was outdated. ESL’s website states 9th-12th placed teams will actually gain 375 points, instead of 500 points for 9th-10th & 250 points for 11th-12th. Below is the correct information:
EWC Table
There has only been 1 major change since the start of the tournament. Navi have leapfrogged GamerLegion for the final invite slot at #13. None of the teams below Rank 13 have qualified for DL S29’s playoffs, so there is everything to play for in the final day.

Groups
I have included head-to-head data for the teams. I’m still experimenting with it, so it really looks wonky right now, but I do think it has value for the readers. If there is any wrong data, please point it out. Duration and Kills stats are averages from their past 5 games.
Spirit vs ex-Heroic
Spirit have already qualified for the playoffs and EWC. They look like a rejuvenated team with their new pos 4 player, not me. They are warming up. Ex-Heroic needs all the points they can get, but since sweeping GamerLegion on the first day, they have lost 10 straight games. Ex-Heroic needs VG and VP to lose their games to survive.
Falcons vs GamerLegion
David vs Goliath. Falcons look like the best team of the tournament. They have already qualified for the playoffs and EWC. GamerLegion have looked like one of the worst teams of the tournament, but they somehow beat VP yesterday and are not yet completely out of the picture. Like Ex-Heroic, even if they miraculously beat their opponents, they are relying on Liquid and Aurora to beat VG and VP to live.
Liquid vs Vici Gaming
Liquid have secured Upper Bracket and EWC. Vici Gaming have already qualified for EWC but would want to have more playoff games as they have not been living up to expectations. VG have only been able to beat x-Heroic and GL in this tourney.
Aurora vs Virtus.Pro
Aurora have already qualified for EWC but has had a lackluster showing in the tournament so far. VP have been one of the better surprises of the tournament. They almost swept Falcons on day 1 when they had a 27k gold lead in game 2, but couldn’t finish their food. Then disaster struck yesterday when they gave GamerLegion their only series win of the tournament. A win vs Falcons or GL would have secured them a playoff berth and much-needed points for an EWC direct invite. They currently sit 12th in the EWC table and need 521 points to surpass OG.
XG vs Navi
Navi have been the surprise of the tournament and have already secured an Upper Bracket ticket. Navi needs more points. Sitting in the 13th spot is not a comfortable place to be in the EWC race. XG have already qualified for EWC. They are inconsistent as ever. The “tilted” loss against NGX truly set them back. It is impossible to tell if XG will show up for a series or not.
BetBoom vs Nigma
BetBoom have yet to secure their playoff lives and are in a hot spot when it comes to EPT points. They rank 11th in the invite race. VP and Navi are closing in fast. The good news is that they are very close to overtaking OG. They should be able to qualify. Nigma has had another disappointing tournament. BB is a tough opponent for them. They can still qualify if PlayTime beats Tundra.
Tundra vs PlayTime
Tundra have already qualified for EWC. They have stunk the place up in the past 3 tournaments they’ve been in. I don’t know what’s going on with them, but it’s starting to look worrying. PlayTime have beaten the worst teams of their group and also achieved an impressive victory over Pari. They’ll hope Tundra is still asleep for this tournament. They need BetBoom to beat NGX to get a playoff berth. They need to at least finish 5th/6th in the playoffs to get an invite.
Parivision vs Rekonix
Pls continue to pray for our Indonesian brothers.
